There are some real best backlink monitoring tools out there. While Linkody is fine for solo freelancers or small link building teams, it’s limited. The size of your team is really the main factor in deciding on a Linkody alternative. If you’re a two person team, Linkody might work for you. If you have a larger team that needs status tracking, task assignments, goal setting, and overall team management in addition to backlink tracking, you should consider LinkDog.io.
All of the tools offer some sort of import feature. Before upgrading to a paid plan, make sure the tool supports your data format, especially if it allows CSV uploads. The tool should also offer a template of the correct format. Download the template, fill it in with your link, hypertext, target URL, team member, and free/paid status, then upload it.
Most tools check your backlinks daily, but that’s overkill. I’d recommend checking for new backlinks every 3 days. 24 hour monitoring is usually overkill unless you have a high priority campaign.
There aren’t any free tools that are functional. Some offer free plans, but they’re very limited with backlink tracking and aren’t useful for building links over time.
